The Remote Blue Wilderness
Located on the border of Arizona & New Mexico
The Blue Wilderness, also known as the Blue Range Primitive Area, is probably the least used and known wilderness area in America — which is the very reason we love to explore this remarkable and unique country. The Blue has been U-Trail's decade-long effort of search and discovery, with riches in natural beauty, unique landscapes and wildlife as our reward!

Riders who have experienced Blue Wilderness pack trips come away with the awesome feelings of remoteness, solitude, endless beauty and a sense that time stands still in this mountains.

Historic Trails . . . trails within the Blue Wilderness where used by Apaches, in the late 1800's, traveling from San Carlos reservation in Arizona back to their native home in the Gila.
Spaniards, in the 1700s, used this country in their quest for gold and silver — we ride to a remote site where a Spanish symbol for mining is carved on a tree.

And the famous WS Ranch, in the late 1800's, with Butch Cassidy as foreman gathered cattle in these mountains. Homesteaders also claimed some choice locations.

Awe-Inspiring Landscapes . . . trips start along a canyon bottom with cool running water and springs that work their calming magic. We move camp from the lower canyon elevations to our higher mountain top setting - rides are loops covering an amazing variety of landscapes. Along the way, we stop at running creeks and springs.

Strange & Beautiful Rock Formations . . . columns of hoodoos and jutting rocks of brilliant white sculptured rock formations.
Similar to a visit to Utah or the Moon.

Grand Vistas . . . endless, unobstructed views in all directions. From Arizona, see the tall mountains of the Gila Wilderness. Take in the beautiful canyons of the Blue River and pristine vistas in this wild, untamed part of the world.
Plenty of Wildlife . . . elk, mule deer and bear roam this remarkable country without hesitation.

Extreme Remoteness . . . it's what we like about the Blue. Difficult to access, helps minimize the number of visitors. On the majority of our trips, we explore the Blue on our own. A grand and awesome wilderness experience at its very best!

Camp . . . is deluxe and comfortable with wall tents and cots. Lance our resident chef, brews up outstanding home cooked meals that are just a delight. Special diet restrictions are no problem. Hot showers and private toilet. Riding horses are experienced, safe, personable, and easy to handle.
